Dr. Lance Hidalgo

Dr. Lance Hidalgo is a Baton Rouge native who grew up in a veterinary family. Caring for animals was part of his daily life long before he ever wore a white coat. That early start shaped the kind of doctor he became. He earned his DVM from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, training close to home in the state he loves. It is the same school where every doctor on our team has trained.

After graduation, Dr. Hidalgo practiced for three years in Tennessee. He gained valuable experience there, but Louisiana never stopped feeling like home. In 1998 he returned and opened Prairieville Animal Hospital. He has led the practice ever since, caring for the dogs and cats of Ascension Parish and the Greater Baton Rouge area for more than 25 years.

Dr. Hidalgo has special interests in orthopedics and dermatology. When a pet has a bone or joint problem, his goal is simple. He wants to see that pet run and play again. His orthopedic work is an important part of our surgery service. He also understands how tough skin problems can be in our warm, humid climate. Itchy skin and ear trouble can make a dog or cat miserable, and they can wear a family down too. His focus on dermatology helps pets feel comfortable in their own skin again.
