Dr. Lauren Fruge was born and raised right here in Prairieville. This community is not just where she works. It is home. She started at Prairieville Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant in 2015, and many of our client families have known her for years.
While working at the hospital, Dr. Fruge stayed focused on her goal of becoming a veterinarian. She earned a BS in Biological Sciences in 2020. She then went on to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and earned her DVM in 2024. After nearly a decade of learning this hospital from the inside, she stepped into her role as a doctor on the same team where she began.
Dr. Fruge has special interests in oncology, clinical pathology, and internal medicine. Clinical pathology means studying blood work and lab samples to find answers, and it pairs perfectly with our in-house laboratory. Fast, same-visit results help her catch problems early and track how a pet is doing over time. That means fewer waits and faster answers for worried families. Her interests in oncology and internal medicine also help her care for pets facing complex illness, from the first round of tests to the treatment plan.
As the newest veterinarian on our team, Dr. Fruge brings fresh training and a deep love for this community. She now cares for the pets of the same neighbors she grew up with, and that means a lot to her. Her journey from assistant to doctor shows just how much she loves this work. If you are looking for a doctor who will treat your dog or cat like family, we would love to introduce you. Call (225) 677-5005 or visit our appointment page to schedule a visit with Dr. Fruge.
