In-House Laboratory

When your pet is sick, waiting days for test results is stressful. That is why we run our own laboratory right here in the hospital. Our in-house lab lets us test blood, urine, and other samples on site, so in many cases your veterinarian has answers during the same visit.

Lab work tells us what an exam alone cannot. Blood tests check organ function, blood sugar, and signs of infection or anemia. Urine tests reveal kidney and bladder problems. We also test for heartworms and other parasites, which are a constant concern for pets in Louisiana.

Fast results mean faster treatment. If your dog or cat is sick, same-visit lab work helps us start the right care right away instead of sending you home to wait. And for surgeries, pre-anesthetic blood work done on site keeps everything moving safely on schedule.

Lab testing is not just for sick pets. Routine blood work during wellness visits gives us a baseline for your healthy pet and helps us catch changes early, especially in senior dogs and cats. Small shifts in lab values often show up long before outward symptoms do.
