Eye Care for Dogs and Cats

Your pet's eyes tell you a lot, and when something is wrong with them, it usually shows. Redness, squinting, cloudiness, discharge, or pawing at the face are all signs that your dog or cat needs an eye exam. Eye problems can get worse quickly, so it is always better to have them checked early.

Our veterinarians diagnose and treat common eye conditions in dogs and cats, including eye infections, corneal scratches and ulcers, dry eye, and irritation from allergies or debris. We examine the surface of the eye, the eyelids, and the structures inside to find the source of the problem.

Two of our veterinarians, Dr. Victor Goss and Dr. Travis Procell, have a special interest in ophthalmology, and Dr. Procell is a member of the American Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology. Your pet's eyes are in careful, experienced hands here.

Treatment often starts with medicated drops or ointments, and we show you exactly how to give them at home. For conditions that need advanced or surgical care, we help coordinate the right next step, and we follow your pet's progress until their eyes are healthy again.

If you notice anything unusual about your pet's eyes, do not wait. Call Prairieville Animal Hospital at (225) 677-5005 and we will get your pet seen.

I took my cat for a dental cleaning and some extractions. The staff are extremely nice, we were seen at the appointment time, my cat came out of surgery and she was happy. Next day playful and eating. I am definitely bringing all my pets here.
