Veterinary Surgery

Hearing that your pet needs surgery can be stressful. Our goal is to make the process as safe and calm as possible, for your pet and for you. Our veterinarians perform a range of procedures for dogs and cats, from routine surgeries like spays and neuters to soft tissue procedures such as mass removals and wound repair.

Safety comes first at every step. Before surgery, we examine your pet and run lab work in our in-house laboratory to check organ function and spot hidden risks. During the procedure, your pet is monitored closely from the start of anesthesia until they are awake and comfortable again.

Pain management is part of every surgical plan. We use medication before, during, and after surgery to keep your pet comfortable. A pet that hurts less heals faster, rests better, and gets back to being themselves sooner.

Surgery

We know the hardest part is often the waiting. Our team keeps you informed through the day and goes over clear home-care instructions at pickup, so you know exactly how to help your pet recover. We are always a phone call away if you have questions afterward.

If your pet needs surgery, or you would like a second opinion, call Prairieville Animal Hospital at (225) 677-5005. We are happy to walk you through your options.

A happy pet parent with their pet

Dr. Procell, then and in the past, has been an excellent veterinarian who not only explains your pet's health issues very well but also displays great compassion. The entire staff is wonderful, and my husband and I highly recommend Prairieville Animal Hospital for your pet's health care.

I took my cat for a dental cleaning and some extractions. The staff are extremely nice, we were seen at the appointment time, my cat came out of surgery and she was happy. Next day playful and eating. I am definitely bringing all my pets here.
